

Myanmar Post Office under the Ministry of Transport and Communications issued a new postage stamp with Hooded Treepie bird worth 200 kyats on 23rd November.
The Hooded Treepie bird (Crypsirina cucullata) is endemic to Myanmar according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation.
Mya Thaung, Chairman, Myanmar Philatelic Society, said " I have been collecting the postage stamps since I was young. In fact, I mainly collected the foreign postage stamps. But, I started collected the Myanmar postage stamps during the socialist era because our first chairman encouraged me to collect the Myanmar postage stamps. I already bought 15 stamps sheets and 25 bags. Myanmar post office will issue the bird postage stamps until 9 species of birds and I will keep buying all 9 types of stamps. There is no country that does not issue the bird stamps and Myanmar left behind other countries in issuing stamps of birds with good quality, I think."
The new postage stamps are sold at the Central Post Office In Nay Pyi Taw, The General Post Offices in Yangon and Mandalay, and other post offices in regions and states.
Ko Ko, Secretary, Myanmar Philatelic Society, said " The postage stamps were used for the postal mail in previously, but not so much in these days. Nowadays, the postage stamps are mainly issued for the collectors. The post office issued a variety of designs that will make people interested. The postage stamps are spreading around the world and International community have more interested because of postage stamps. I hope that Myanmar Post office will issue the stamps with Bagan culture to attract more international’s interests."
As a special program, postage stamps are sold with the sealed of date at the Central Post Office in Nay Pyi Taw, General Post Offices in Yangon and Mandalay on 23rd November.
