Myanmar Post Office Under the Ministry of Transport and Communications issued a new 200 kyats postage stamp with a picture of “Swae” bird also known as White-Throated babbler, on the 9th of October. The “Swae” bird is a species of bird endemic in Myanmar, according to the record of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation.

Aye Ngwe, Philatelist said "Our country, Myanmar, has now recorded the existence of this kind of bird by issuing this postage stamp with “Swae” bird picture – it’s good activity for the future generations. Collecting postage stamps, we can know the history, events and eras automatically without reading the history books. It will lead to developing the hobby of collecting stamps and valuing them."

The Myanmar Post Office has been issuing stamps in a row since 2010 and the postage stamps with bird picture were issued in 1964 and 1968 too.

Mya Thaung, Chairperson, Myanmar Philatelic Society said "The postage stamps with bird picture were issued in 1964 and 1968 – designs of those stamps and this “Swae” Bird one are the same, but the size is slightly different. It’s okay to buy the stamps worth 200 Kyats. Not only Myanmar but also other countries issue stamps with bird picture. I heard that the Forest Department provided assistance to the Myanmar Post Office to have issued this postage stamp with “Swae” bird picture, so, it’s perfect!"

The new 200 kyats postage stamps with “Swae” bird were sold at the Central Post Office in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay, and post offices in regions and states on the same day.
