A new place for booklovers has emerged as Book Land by Myanmar Book Centre in Yangon.

Over 150,000 books of about 30,000 various book genres are avaible at the newly opened book centre. Books available are mainly for general knowledge including books from the U.S., UK and India and even The New York Times’ best seller books. Myanmar books are sold for the first time too.

CEO, Myanmar Book Centre Co., Ltd., Dr. Thant Thaw Kaung said “Youths need to explore and learn international literature aside from reading Myanmar books – both fiction and non-fiction. Education system is evolving in Myanmar so students need to study from reading books more than just learning school lessons. We tried to include every book genre available around the world here for book lovers. We can also make direct orders immidiately if customers request for certain books.”

A coffee shop is available at the Book Land for customers’ convenience. There are plans to form a book club and hold reading sessions and author signing events as well.

Chaw Chaw said “My child is a pre-intermediate student at British Council. Books needed for the course are available here. A wide range of books are offered here. It’s great!”

Tin Min Zaw said “We can explore a lot of books on general knowledge. As there are a lot of options to choose, I will recommend the book land to my friends. The price is reasonable too.”

Nyan Linn Htun said “I can get the books I want here like “The Art Of War”. I’m looking for books related to my university study, Computer Science. This kind of environment is good for young people and the country.”

Myanmar Book Centre was established in 1996 for development of Myanmar literature and broadened knowledge of general public. Book Land is the 4th book shop opened by Myanmar Book Centre.
