New Facility: Yangon Orthopaedic Hospital opened new annex building

Hailing the 75th anniversary Diamond Jubilee Independence Day, a new 5-storey annex building was opened at Yangon Orthopedic Hospital in KyiMyinDaing Township on Thursday with the attendance of Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win.

After formal opening of the ceremony the Vice Senior General unveiled the signboard of the new annex building. In his speech, the Vice Senior General said the Yangon Orthopaedic Hospital was opened in 1895 as the Disabilities and Leprosy Centre, and was transformed as the Orthopaedic Hospital in 1976. In January, it became 300-bed facility providing various treatment for orthopedical diseases.

The Vice Senior General expressed thanks to the officials from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Construction, Yangon Region Government, the medical superintendent, specialist doctors and health staff for their support in completing the new annex building in the designated time and set standards.

He called for cooperation of all concerned persons for the hospital to stand as a reliable specialist hospital for the public while carrying out systematic maintenance for long term durability of the facility. It was followed by the handing over the documents of the new annex building. Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win also presented a commemorative gift to the Vice Senior General, followed by the words of thanks by the Medical Superintendent. The Vice Senior General and party later viewed round the new 5-storey annex building.
