New export item: Rising the demand for wild palms roots at the market

In Myanmar, the demands of wild palm roots are rising and selling rate increasing up to 20,000 kyats per viss in Mandalay market as well as Myanmar has exported the palm roots to the China market as of August this year. 

The wild palm trees grows well in tropical zone and can be seen the whole central area of Myanmar. They are grown not only as a forest but also as border line of firms. 

Soe Win Myint said "The wild palms roots are dug up between August and October which is the rainy season. In Mandalay market, selling at the price of 20,000 kyats per viss of dried palm roots and 5,000 kyats per viss of wet palm roots. Also Myanmar exported it to the China market and China uses the roots of palm tree to make the medicine. In Myanmar, wild palm roots is soaked in honey and drunk as a tonic. I think it would be a lot of beneficial for Myanmar if we can research the roots of palm trees and distribute to the global market. "

Most of the roots of wild palms are trading in Mandalay region, Sagaing region and the western part of Monywa.
