


Yangon Region Transport Authority (YRTA) will run a circular bus services, official of YRTA said at the regular press briefing on Wednesday.
The new bus lines will start to operate with a total of 20 buses around Yangon City as of 23rd September, aiming to improve better transportation system. The City Transit Company will operate the new city buses which are Scania vehicles.
Joint Secretary, Yangon Region Transport Authority, Hla Aung said “There will be Scania Technology and operating systems on these new bus lines such as LED system using yellow instead of red color for setting up the bus numbers, using lighting colors green and red light when reaching the bus-stop and sound and LED lighting systems for persons with disabilities. Also, people with wheel chairs can also do get in/ get off conveniently on the new buses. The bus route system will be controlled by the two telematic systems of Scania and YRTA.”
YRTA will later announce detailed information on their operation depending on the numbers of commuters. A total of 39 buses will run in October and the new bus lines will provide better transportation to the commuters, the official of YRTA added at the press.
Joint Secretary, Yangon Region Transport Authority, Hla Aung said “As it is a new service for commuters who rely on bus services, there will be many benefits such as commuters get the knowledge of new technologies which are using on these buses and can reach easily where they want to go.”
It's learned that the bus fare will be 1,000 kyats for one complete round from Aung Mingalar bus terminal to Thakhin Mya Park and 500 kyats for shorter distances.
