National Period of Mourning: National Period of Mourning Announced

The Information Team of the National Defense and Security Council issued an announcement on declaring the period of National Mourning, on 7th August.

In the announcement, it’s stated that the Pro-Tem President U Myint Swe of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar passed away at 8:28 AM, Today on August 7, 2025, at the No. 2 (1000-bed) Military Hospital and his funeral will be held as a state funeral. Therefore, the period from today, August 7 to August 11, 2025, is declared a national period of mourning.

During this time, the flag of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar is to be flown at half-mast.
