


The Ministry of Electric Power and the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation "ROSATOM" made discussions on joint projects on Thursday.
In his remarks, Union Minister U Thaung Han said the meeting was to integrate requirements for the joint projects and requirements on the ground.
He also highlighted agreement and MoU with the "ROSATOM" for “Road Map on Cooperation in the field of the use of Nuclear Energy for Peaceful Purposes for 2022-2023” and with the Joint Stock Company for “Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Projects”.
The Union Minister also stressed discussions with the "ROSATOM" to further expand and invest, build power plants, develop small hydropower and renewable energy and to include private investment in wind power implementation projects.
The "ROSATOM" conducted field surveys of potential locations for wind power projects and areas for small hydropower construction and implementation, the Union Minister added.
These discussions focused on small-scale hydropower and renewable energy wind power generation, electricity generation with the use of thermal energy and lithium batteries production for electric vehicles to be used in Myanmar.
