Myanmar Promotion Centre: MoHT Union Minister received SG of MPC

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung met the delegation led by the Secretary-General of the Myanmar Promotion Centre based in Chongqing, China at the Ministry’s Sapphire Hall on the evening of 27 December.

First, the Union Minister extended greeting. In his discussion, the Secretary-General of the Myanmar Promotion Centre said that the establishment of the Myanmar Promotion Centre was to make Myanmar widely known not only to the people of Chongqing but also to the people of western China and increase China-Myanmar cooperation.

China would like to extend an invitation to the Ministry and tourism associations, in order to be able to exhibit the China-Myanmar Investment Forum, the China-Myanmar Cultural Tourism Expo and the Lancang-Mekong Tourism Partnership City Week Programme are scheduled to be held in Chongqing.

The Union minister responded that Myanmar and the People's Republic of China are cooperating in various sectors, including tourism. Preparations are being made, starting from the language, to facilitate the visit of Chinese tourists. The ministry will cooperate with related ministries and tourism associations to participate in the upcoming events in Chongqing as well.

The Union minister expressed his gratitude to the secretary-general for organizing 50 tourism booths for Myanmar, as well as for free travel and accommodation. He also suggested that the secretary-general should visit other destinations during his visit to Myanmar.
