Myanmar Marks 78th Martyrs’ Day: Flag-Lowering Ceremony at the Secretariat in Yangon

To mark the 78th Martyrs’ Day, a flag-lowering ceremony in remembrance of General Aung San and fallen leaders was held at the Secretariat in Yangon on Saturday.Yangon Mayor U Bo Htay, departmental heads, and officials attended the event.

The state flag was lowered to half-mast, and a two-minute silence was observed. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the public was allowed free entry to the historic meeting hall where the martyrs were assassinated and to the old Parliament building. Artifacts, rare photos, and 28 items related to the martyrs were on display. This year saw more visitors compared to last year, including students participating in quiz programs with commemorative prizes.
