Myanmar / India: MoU for Digital Identity Pilot Project

A ceremony was held at the Ministry of Immigration and Population in Nay Pyi Taw to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry and the Government of the Republic of India concerning cooperation on a pilot project for Myanmar's Digital Identity.

Union Minister U Myint Kyaing, Indian Ambassador Mr. Abhay Thakur and other officials attended the ceremony.

In his speech, the Union Minister stated that this MoU between Myanmar and India aims to facilitate the sharing of technical assistance from the Indian government for the implementation of Myanmar's Digital ID pilot project. He expressed hope for continued support and sharing of better recommendations, more efficient and faster assistance, and experiences related to human resource development from India.

Also, the Indian Ambassador Mr. Abhay Thakur explained the extent of cooperation and support that the Indian government will provide for the Digital Identity pilot project processes in Myanmar. Subsequently, the Union Minister and the Ambassador signed the MoU on cooperation for Myanmar's Digital Identity pilot project.
