Myanmar-China Trade: Meeting On Border Trade Resumption

The Kachin State’s Myanmar-China Trade Resumption Work Committee held their coordination meeting on Wednesday at the Kachin State Government Office.

In this meeting, patron of the Committee Kachin State Chief Minister Dr. Khet Htein Nan said that the China and Myanmar will resume border trade soon for crops and called for cooperation to ensure that trucks are inspected; local entrepreneurs are not harmed; stakeholders follow the COVID-19 prevention guidelines; coordination and preparations are made; and tax is collected.

Also, chairman of the Committee, Kachin State economic minister U Myo Swe reported on coordination between the two countries for border trade and the number of trucks to pass border.

The meeting continued with attendees discussing truck inspection plan, COVID-19 test, export of crops including tissue-cultured bananas and requirements. In his response, the Chief Minister called for fairness and adherence to the existing laws and COVID-19 prevention guidelines in trading.
