Myanmar’s Response on ICJ Judgement: Myanmar will continue to stand firmly in line with int’l laws

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) delivers its Judgement on the preliminary objections raised by Myanmar in the case concerning Application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, brought by the Gambia on 22ndJuly at the Peace Palace in The Hague of Netherlands.

Concerning the ICJ’s Judgement, Leader of the Information Team of the State Administration Council Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun said during the preliminary objections, Myanmar requested the Court to adjudge and declare that the Court lacks jurisdiction to hear the case based on four facts, and ICJ objected the request.

He added that ICJ rule have impact on all the world countries, and Myanmar will continue to stand firmly in line with the international laws. He stressed that since ICJ is the international judicial body that mainly made judgement in accordance with the international laws, it is hopeful to make a correct milestone judgment in the international arena.

He pointed out that the presence of Myanmar delegation at ICJ Court can be assumed that the Myanmar Government’s stance has been recognized by the ICJ which is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations.
