Myanma Railway: SAC Chairman Inspected Locomotive Workshop (Myitnge)

The chairman of state administration council, commander in chief of defense services, senior general Min Aung Hlaing together with the members of SAC, union ministers, chairman of Mandalay Region administration, commander in chief (Navy), senior Tatmataw officials from the office of commander in chief, commander of central command and officials inspected Myanmar Railway passenger coaches and freight wagons workshop (Myitnge) under the ministry of transport and communications in the morning on Tuesday.

First, union minister for transport and communications Admiral Tin Aung San, managing director of Myanma Railway U Ba Myint and general manager of industry and electricity engineering department clarified the history of the ministry, works and responsibilities of Myanma Railway, appointment of staffs at the workshops and departments, the rolling status of Myanma Railway and prospect of expansion, construction of passengers coaches and freight wagons and ongoing status and the locomotive repairing and upgrading of railway lines with the power point.

Regarding the clarifications, the chairman of state administration council instructed that the railway transportation is key transportation system in the country, as Myanma Railway has been over 140 years and the second most experienced country after India in the South East Asia, the wellness of railway lines is needed to give priority, it’s needed to follow the given standards in the maintaining railway lines and the current transporting trains need to run at least 100 kilometer an hour.

In the railway network, a communication network should be attached, the local engineers should be assigned in the repairing and constructing locomotives, maintaining railway lines and extension works for the technical development.

It’s needed to pursue the technical skills and conduct the research to construct the local made locomotives, passenger coaches and freight wagons and in the construction of train coaches, it’s required to consider up to construct the locomotives powered by the electricity etc.

Next, the SAC chairman handed over foodstuff for the staff of workshop and the workshop in-charge accepted them. Then, the SAC chairman and party inspected the construction works of passenger coaches and freight wagons and the responsible officials explained necessaries.

Next, the SAC chairman and party took a ride of Myanma Railway special train from Myitnge station in Amarapura Township to YwaHtaung station in Sagain Township, it’s learnt.
