Museum and Library Tour: Students Visit National Museum and Library in Nay Pyi Taw

Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin, together with the Deputy Minister and officials, paid a visit to the National Museum in Nay Pyi Taw on Saturday. They extended their support for the Museum Awareness Program, which was being conducted for students from No.11 Basic Education High School.

During the visit, the Union Minister explained the purpose of the exhibition booths displayed at the museum. The Department of Archaeology and National Museum presented books to the students through a teacher.

The Union Minister and the Deputy Minister also engaged with students at various booths, including those featuring primates and fossils, the prehistoric period, the protohistoric period, and the historic period, providing detailed explanations.

The students had the opportunity to explore several other sections of the museum, such as the Myanmar Art Gallery, Myanmar Performing Arts, arts and crafts, ASEAN exhibits, a section dedicated to children's discovery, Buddha Images, the Lion Throne, vehicles once owned by former Heads of State, and a souvenir shop.

Additionally, students participated in a quiz program and were awarded prizes for their knowledge. After the museum visit, the Union Minister and party proceeded to the National Library (Nay Pyi Taw) to participate in a Children's Library Activity.

In his opening speech, the Union Minister emphasized the pivotal role libraries play in the development of education, culture, and the intellectual growth of a nation's citizens. He urged the students to strive for self-improvement by acquiring knowledge from the library.

The Department of Historical Research and National Library also presented books to add to the school library's collection. During the library tour, the Union Minister introduced the students to various sections, including the children's corner, digital signage touch screen, e-library, reading room, palm-leaf manuscripts, and parabaik writing tablets.

One hundred students from No.11 Basic Education High School in Nay Pyi Taw participated in the program, engaging in activities such as reading books, e-books, browsing the library's collection, and participating in the quiz program. Deputy Minister Daw Nu Mra Zan awarded gifts to the winning students at the quiz program.
