Mrauk-U Archaeological Museum: Plans are underway to open an information center

In Mrauk-U, preparations are being made to open an information center at the Mrauk-U Archaeological Museum for displaying historical evidences and information related to Mrauk-U region in order to submit the Mrauk-U region to the World Heritage list.

In undertaking these processes, major repairs of the interior parts of the galleries will be carried out in September, according to an official of Department of Archaeology and National Museum. 

Director, Dept. of Archaeology & National Museum (Mrauk-U), Kyi Khin said "In order to study the historical evidences conveniently for visitors, preparations are being made for renewal and renovation of the captions, taps and translations of the displayed items in the museum and the display areas will be refurbished with new linens to get a fresh vibe. Lights will be re-decorated around the scale model of the pagodas and also the model of the city wall, royal moat, gate, granary and forts. The way how to store water in the defense system will be displayed with the illustration of a map in the museum. "

In the information center, criteria related to the world heritage sites and the contemporary historical evidences of the ancient city of Mrauk-U and Vaishali will be displayed in samples. 

Painting process will be undertaken for the decoration of the museum. It is expected to open the museum around November and December and it is planed to open every day from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm except Monday and gazette holidays. Every local visitor can study this museum with free of charge and 5,000 kyats entrance fee will cost for a foreigner.

The manuscripts and stone carvings, accessories, historical evidences and Buddha statues from 4 eras will be on display in the Mrauk-Oo national museum.
