As tensions remain high under the looming threat of war with Ukraine, Russia continues to send military vehicles to Belarus for joint training drills.  Adding to an estimated 100,000 troops deployed near Ukraine, Russia has moved forces for the exercises with its ally Belarus, which also borders Ukraine.

For the training, Russian units and vehicles have mobilized to areas near Belarus' southern border, which is about 75 kilometres from Kyiv. The deployment further strengthens the Russian military presence near Ukraine amid Western fears of a planned invasion. Moscow has denied it intends to attack its neighbor but demanded guarantees from the West that NATO will not expand to Ukraine or other former Soviet nations or place its troops and weapons there.
