More than 10,000 soldiers take part in Chile military parade

Chile held its annual military parade in Santiago to mark 111th edition Army Day, with President Jose Antonio Kast presiding over the ceremony for the first time since taking office.

Before the march began, President Kast awarded the Medal of Valor  to seven military personnel for distinguished service. More than 10,000 members of the armed forces and security institutions took part in the parade at O’Higgins Park, including Gendarmerie for the first time.

The three-hour ceremony featured an aerial flyover of around 60 aircraft, alongside heavy engineering machinery from the Army's Military Labour Corps, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Carretera Austral construction.
