Monsoon rains flood parts of India's Mumbai

The southwest monsoon's arrival brought intense overnight rainfall of up to 200 mm to Mumbai on Tuesday, causing severe flooding in low-lying areas, widespread traffic disruptions, and delays on suburban railway networks.

The India Meteorological Department has maintained severe weather alerts for Mumbai and neighboring districts, warning of thunderstorms and very heavy rain. Besides, authorities are urging residents to avoid traveling to inundated areas.
