Monitoring disease control measures: Health rules for returnees from Thailand announced

The public health guidelines for the returnees from Thailand through Myanmar-Thai border gates were declared at the Ministry of Health on 19th January.

For the travelers who are going to enter Myanmar through Myanmar-Thai border gates, Director at the Ministry of Health explained about the required documents and essential procedures. 

Director, Ministry of Health, Dr. Than Naing Soe, said " For more convenience of travels and ease of border trades between Myanmar and Thailand, we declare the requirements for them while also monitoring disease controlling processes and trying not to increase infections. They need to bring necessary documents and Ministry of Health approved COVID vaccination certificates. It will be free for the children under age 12 travelling with their parents who have completed doses. RDT tests results are needed to show with Myanmar or English languages clearly including passports data, those things must be shown to the health officers at the border gates. Health Declaration Form with clear and accurate information of individuals also required when arrival."

He continued that, the necessary health checks are going to be conducted by health officers at the border gates. If the symptoms found through RDT, they must cost 15,000 themselves for ongoing health check processes. The day travelers will free from RDT test. Swab specimens will declare within an hour by the Ministry of Health. If found through RDT, health care services are going to be provided at the designated areas in line with the instructions of the Ministry. And, if symptoms found while staying in the country, they also need to report immediately and take health care services. When going back to Thailand, they can do COVID test at the set areas of the Ministry of Health with their own costs if they are requested at the border gates from Thailand side.  

Director, Ministry of Health, Dr. Than Naing Soe, said " Foreign travelers must cost for the monitoring travel restrictions and health check activities. Diplomats and international staff and family members UN organizations will be given home quarantine. State level guests and foreign representatives who are going to enter Myanmar are needed to report to Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Health at least five days before arrival day and could take to free from those set rules."

The declaration comes into force from 19th January 2023, 00:01 MST till to date.
