MOHA Notification: Declaration of an Unlawful Association

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a Notification No. 922/2025 on Thursday, on the declaration of an Unlawful Association.

It stated that the Acting President believes that the objectives and activities of the Kayin National Union (KNU), its members, affiliated organizations formed by the group, and individuals associated with it, pose a threat to the rule of law, national stability, and public peace and order within the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

Therefore, under Section 16 of the Unlawful Associations Act, the Acting President declares the said organization, the organizations formed by it, and those affiliated with it as unlawful associations, in accordance with the definitions outlined in Section 15, Subsection (2) of the Act. The notification was signed by Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, Union Minister for Home Affairs.
