Mexico's health ministry reported 5,681 new cases of coronavirus infection and 741 additional fatalities on Tuesday, bringing the total in the country to over 231,770 cases and 28,510 deaths. With the additional deaths, Mexico's coronavirus toll surpassed Spain's total number of fatalities from the virus.

in June, Mexico shed 82,000 formal jobs registered for social security benefits, Mexican President said on Thursday, in a marked improvement from the previous month during the crisis sparked by the coronavirus pandemic. In May, Mexico lost around 345,000 formal jobs, according to official data. Millions more jobs have been lost since the country began lockdown against coronavirus in late March.
