Mexico City celebrates Day of the Dead with colorful parade

Mexico City's vibrant Day of the Dead Grand Parade 2026 took place across the country, starting from October 31. The parade features monumental Catrinas, colorful floats, skeleton marching bands, and dancers wearing butterfly-inspired and traditional Indigenous costumes.

On the other hand, families build multi-tiered home altars decorated with photographs, candles, water, personal belongings, and favorite foods of the departed. While modern large-scale parades were popularized after being featured in the 2015 James Bond film Spectre, the event currently blend seamlessly with deep-rooted cultural and spiritual family rituals.
