The UN Security Council has adopted a resolution to renew the mandate of the UN Verification Mission in Colombia for another year until October 31, 2027. At the request of the Colombian government, the mission's scope narrows back to its core functions of verifying the reintegration of former FARC-EP combatants and security guarantees.

The mission has discontinued its role in monitoring the implementation of comprehensive rural reform, with the Colombian government taking full domestic ownership and responsibility for carrying rural reform forward. It is learned that the draft resolution was led and introduced by the United Kingdom.
