A literal catwalk took place in the lobby of the Algonquin Hotel in New York on Thursday. The legendary scene was filled with feline fashionistas. Some ten dressed up cats were entered into the annual fashion show to raise awareness for animal rescue and adoption. The year's theme was, "It's a Small World." The cats represented countries including Ireland, Spain, the United Kingdom and of course, the United States.

EVENT ORGANIZER, ALICE DE ALMEIDA said  "Well feline fashion is different. Everybody sees dogs in costumes and they're used to seeing that. But very few people see cats in costumes. So it's a fun way of raising awareness. And the cats don't mind, they're 'mewdels' or I should say prrrrfessional mewdels, and it's it's fun."

All the profits of the event went to the Mayors Alliance for New York City Animals, which helps find homes for stray cats and dogs.
