Lebanese President Joseph Aoun viewed a US-brokered security arrangement as a gradual step to end the state of hostility and lay the groundwork for long-term peace with Israel.

Aoun stated that Lebanon must first secure a stable ceasefire and security pact before discussing higher-level political meetings or a full peace treaty. Representatives from Lebanon and Israel plan to hold further talks in Washington and Rome to address remaining border and security issues.
