Meeting with officials and elders: SSPC Chairman held meeting with officials & locals

Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, together with his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Secretary of the Commission and Joint Chief Executive, General Ye Win Oo, and his wife, Union Ministers, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, the Chief Minister of Magway Region, the Commander of the Central Command and officials, met separately with departmental officials and local elders in Chauk and Yenangyaung to discuss matters related to regional development in the afternoon on August 19.

First, the Chairman and his wife visited the designated site for constructing a Tooth Relic pagoda in Ward No. 5 of Chauk. At the site, the Chauk District Administrator explained the ongoing implementation of the pagoda construction project in accordance with the Chairman’s guidance, the completion status of land preparation and soil testing works.

After the briefing, the SSPC Chairman instructed that the pagoda be constructed systematically in line with the designated proportions and provided further guidance on necessary matters. Later, the Chairman met separately with departmental officials and local elders at the Chauk Township General Administration Office and, in Yenangyaung, at the Energy Guesthouse hall, to discuss local development affairs.

At the meeting, the Chauk District Administrator presented updates on regional development projects, the implementation of the pagoda construction, compliance with the Chairman’s earlier instructions during his visit to Chauk, and the progress in sectors such as agriculture, livestock, health, and education in the township.

Following this, local elders of Chauk presented their needs, including the request for upgrading the public hospital and filling vacant health staff positions etc. The Chairman discussed and responded to these needs and matters raised.

After that, the Chief Minister of Magway Region presented the status of paddy cultivation and production improvement efforts in Chauk and Yenangyaung townships. Union Ministers then made sector-wise clarifications on respective sectors.

In his concluding remarks, the SSPC Chairman noted that during his previous visit to Chauk Township, measures had been undertaken to reduce the impact of extreme heat. He explained that his current visit was focused on regional development and ensuring peace and tranquility.

He also emphasized the mottos: “Support production for the nation’s prosperity,” “Support education for the nation’s development,” and “Protect the environment for the nation’s well-being.”

He highlighted that if each household across every ward and village were to plant at least one tree annually, the number of trees would significantly increase, thereby contributing greatly to a greener and healthier natural environment. At the end of the meeting, the SSPC Chairman warmly greeted those in attendance, it’s learnt.
