






While in Sittwe of Rakhine State to attend the 51st Anniversary of Rakhine State Day, the Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development, U Hla Moe, together with the State Minister for Transport and Communications, U Aung Kyaw Moe, attended a meeting with staff from departments under the ministry. The meeting was held on December 15 at the meeting hall of the State Department of Cooperatives.
At the meeting, the Union Minister U Hla Moe explained that efforts are being undertaken to form agricultural and livestock production cooperatives, to provide seeds and fertilizers, to conduct income-generating training programs through the Small-Scale Industries Department, and to support trainees after completion of training by providing work-related capital equipment.
He further stated that the Department of Rural Development is implementing measures to ensure water supply for farmland owned by agricultural cooperative members, constructing farm-to-market roads, and that the Rural Road Development Department is building inter-village connecting roads.
He emphasized that, for the purpose of improving the socio-economic lives of rural communities, the four departments concerned should work together and carry out activities in Sittwe Township only in locations where work can be safely conducted, and refrain from operating in areas with poor security conditions.
Afterwards, the Union Minister presented financial assistance to staff from the four departments who are serving in Sittwe, it’s reported.
