Meeting to hold Science Fair: MOE UM delivered the speech at the meeting

A meeting to discuss holding a Science Fair at Yangon University was held on December 18 at the University Arts Hall, attended by the Rector, Pro-Rectors, and Heads of Departments of Yangon University.

First, Union Minister for Education Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein stated her wish to revive the Science Fair previously held at Yangon University. She mentioned that the Science Fair has not been held since 2020 and that efforts must be made to successfully and vibrantly revive and hold the event.

She said the Arts and Science Research Conference and the Science Fair would be combined and held together to make them lively. She urged the combination of Physics and Chemistry Departments to facilitate the exhibition of beneficial research like Water Study. She also urged efforts to reinstate the use of the Yangon University Research Center. She instructed coordination with the Rector to enable the exhibition of poster shows, book shows, and research activities at the Research Center. She directed the International Relations Department to connect with international embassies for the Science Fair to include cultural exchange events. She emphasized the need to establish an Area Studies Research Center. She also requested relevant departments to prepare in advance to open Job Ready Skill training courses. She called for collaborative efforts to ensure the successful holding of the Science Fair and the Arts and Science Research Conference.

Subsequently, the Deputy Minister and Heads of Departments presented suggestions and discussions on holding the science exhibition and opening training courses. The Union Minister supplemented the discussions with necessary recommendations.

Following this, the Union Minister met with the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and senior member professors of the Myanmar Academy of Arts and Science at the Yangon University Meeting Hall to discuss holding the Arts and Science Research Conference. She stated that the Arts and Science Research Conference and the Science Fair would be held jointly.

She urged Heads of Departments to encourage the timely submission of papers. She mentioned that student performances are planned to be included in the opening and closing ceremonies and requested collaborative suggestions and discussions on other necessary matters.

Afterwards, the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and members of the Myanmar Academy of Arts and Science presented suggestions and discussions regarding the preparations for holding the Arts and Science Research Conference. The Union Minister coordinated and provided necessary support.
