Meeting with Farmers: NPT Council Chairman met with farmers

A meeting with farmers and providing low-lift solar pumps for double cropping were held, on Sunday, beside the Pin Laung Road in Be Kone Village, Zabuthiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw.

Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo, Council members, responsible officials, and local farmers attended the event. First, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo emphasized that during double crop cultivation and production, from land preparation, planting, weeding, pesticide application, and fertilizing up to harvesting and threshing, it is necessary to achieve full mechanization in the agricultural sector.

He also stated that for double cropping, it is necessary to carry out rehabilitation and maintenance operations, drill underground water wells, convert to and install solar systems, construct temporary check dams, build solar and electric water pumping systems, repair rural weirs, and excavate drainage canals to protect against natural disasters.

Afterwards, the attendees provided additional discussions and presentations. The Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman and Council members then handed over the low-lift solar pumps to the farmers. Subsequently, the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman and the attendees observed and encouraged the irrigation activities being carried out using the low-lift solar pumps.

Following this, the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman visited the Bawgathiri residential block and inspected the construction of bachelor quarters and staff housing. He instructed officials to expedite the completion of the projects, increase the workforce, and ensure construction meets specified standards to be resilient against natural disasters, including earthquakes. He also coordinated and provided necessary support for the requirements.
