A meeting with entrepreneurs who have established their own businesses through the "Creating Small-Scale Manufacturing and Increasing Rural Family Income" project was held at the Union Minister's Office in Nay Pyi Taw on August 17.
Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe attended and delivered an opening speech. In his speech, Union Minister U Hla Moe stated that the Department of Small-Scale Industries focuses on creating small-scale, agriculture-based manufacturing businesses to improve the socio-economic lives of rural families.
He explained that the project has been implemented for three years, starting from the 2023-2024 fiscal year. He also mentioned that the department provides necessary technical skills, equipment, and support to help individuals establish small businesses.
The purpose of this meeting, he said, was to check on the success of the businesses run by the trainees, identify any needs they may have, and facilitate a discussion between the department and the entrepreneurs. He urged the entrepreneurs to share their challenges, strengths, and weaknesses with each other and to present any other difficulties they have encountered.
Following the speech, the Union Minister and officials took a group photo with the attendees. They then toured and inspected the products on display, including clothing made by sewing business owners, metal goods from welders, and food and consumer products from other entrepreneurs who completed training from the project.
In the second part of the event, the Director-General of the Department of Small-Scale Industries explained the implementation status of the project. After that, entrepreneurs from Nay Pyi Taw shared the challenges and needs they face in running their businesses. The Director-General and relevant officials then coordinated and addressed the issues that were raised.
