Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe met diplomatic staff assigned to Myanmar embassies, permanent missions, and consulates-general abroad on December 24.

During the session, officials introduced the countries where they had previously served and their upcoming duty locations. In his guidance, the Union minister said suitable staff are selected to be sent abroad in accordance with the prescribed criteria.

As they represent the country, they are required to strictly follow the code of conduct and must respect and give special emphasis to the customs, traditions, and culture of the countries where they will be assigned. They also should strive to improve themselves and carry out their duties with as few mistakes as possible.

He emphasized that being loyal to oneself is equivalent to being loyal to the country, and staff must carefully consider their behaviour and actions, doing only what is appropriate. Challenges they encounter should be transformed into opportunities and overcome with their best efforts, and they should work together with unity, coordination, and cooperation among colleagues.

The Union Minister added that as staff are carrying out duties abroad on behalf of the country, they must show strong loyalty to both themselves and the nation, live without errors to uphold dignity, learn lessons from challenges and apply their experiences beneficially, pursue continuous learning, maintain unity among staff, and pay special attention to both physical and mental health.
