








The Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, met with the Chairman of Union Election Commission, Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, and the Chief Ministers of Regions and States and addressed at the meeting hall of the National Defence and Security Council Office in the afternoon on February 9.
Attending the meeting were Commission Vice-Chairman Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Prime Minister U Nyo Saw, Executive Chief U Aung Lin Dwe, Commission Secretary General Ye Win Oo, Commission members, Union Ministers, the Chairman of Union Election Commission, Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, Chief Ministers of Regions and States, members of Union Election Commission, Deputy Ministers, and responsible officials.
In his address, the Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission stated that the Multi-Party Democracy General Election, which started on December 28, 2025, was successfully held in phases across 263 townships. It was observed during the election that people came to the polling stations actively and orderly to cast their votes.
Seeing them queueing systematically to vote demonstrated public support for the election and endorsement of the political actions taken by the State. He noted that some individuals with differing political stances did not participate in the election. Nationwide, out of over 24 million eligible voters, over 13.14 million people cast their votes, resulting in a voter turnout of 54.22%.
Looking at international elections, according to published records, general elections were held in 199 countries in 2025 and the nearest periods. Among these, voter turnout in 50 countries was less than 54%, including countries like France, Algeria, Bulgaria, Egypt, Croatia, and Japan, nations considered to have flourishing democracies.
Therefore, the election held in the country can be described as a successful one. He expressed great gratitude to the people who participated and voted in the election. Their genuine acceptance of the multi-party democracy system, voting peacefully and orderly with discipline, upholding the nation's dignity, and acting as dignified citizens of a great nation is a matter of pride for the country.
When the administration assumed responsibility, it reorganized the election commission, systematically reviewed matters related to the 2020 Multi-Party Democracy General Election, and took necessary action. Subsequently, preparatory work for holding the election and electoral legislation were systematically carried out.
Therefore, he expressed gratitude not only to the current Chairman and members of the Union Election Commission but also to the previous election commission during his administration's term, and so on. He continued by urging the preparation for convening the Hluttaw sessions, ensuring the smooth continuation of work by the incoming government administration, striving for economic development within the available timeframe, creating clean, pleasant, and beautiful environments for the people, ensuring all school-aged children receive education for the future development of the nation, and maintaining regional security, stability, and peace, etc.
Following that, the Chairman of the Union Election Commission explained the actions taken for the successful conduct of the election. Afterwards, the Chief Ministers of Regions and States and other attendees engaged in a general discussion. In concluding speech, regarding MSME businesses, the SSPC Chairman expressed joy in seeing MSME products from various regions and states actively and competitively participating in the Union-level MSME Product Exhibition and Sale, held in commemoration of the 2026, 79th Union Day.
He stated that this exhibition is valuable for the country, and during the event, entrepreneurs meeting, discussing, sharing experiences, and conducting studies can further foster economic growth. He instructed that the Chief Ministers of Regions and States should also support and promote MSME businesses and strive to develop the national economy, it’s learnt.
