Medical Conference and Symposium: PM U Nyo Saw formally opened the conference

The opening ceremony of the 24th Myanmar Traditional Medicine Practitioners’ Conference and the Myanmar Traditional Medicine Symposium was held at the Myanmar International Convention Centre (1) in Nay Pyi Taw on December 16.

First, the opening ceremony of the 24th Myanmar Traditional Medicine Practitioners’ Conference and the Myanmar Traditional Medicine Symposium was inaugurated by cutting the ribbon by the Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Union Minister for Health, Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win; Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council U Than Tun Oo; Director General of the Department of Traditional Medicine Dr. Su Su Dwe; Chairman of the Myanmar Traditional Medicine Council U Myint Oo; Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Traditional Medicine, Professor Dr. U Mate; Vice Chairman of the Myanmar Traditional Medicine Practitioners Association U Aung Htat and Chairman of the Myanmar Traditional Medicine Manufacturers Association U Maung Maung Oo.

Subsequently, the Member of the State Security and Peace Commission Prime Minister U Nyo Saw formally opened the 24th Myanmar Traditional Medicine Practitioners’ Conference and the Myanmar Traditional Medicine Symposium by pressing the ceremonial button.

Next, a congratulatory video message sent to the Myanmar Traditional Medicine Practitioners’ Conference and the Myanmar Traditional Medicine Symposium by Acting President and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, was screened. Continuing with the program, SSPC Member Prime Minister delivered an address, stating that the government places strong emphasis on and actively promotes the traditional medicine sector.

He explained that Myanmar traditional medicine professionals are being systematically trained from basic levels through diploma, degree, and master’s degree levels. He noted that the conference provides valuable opportunities for senior traditional medicine practitioners to share academic knowledge and practical experience with the younger generation and to pass on their professional legacy.

He urged the younger generation to continue striving for the further development and advancement of Myanmar traditional medicine. He also emphasized the importance of carrying out traditional medicine practices and public health services with dedication and goodwill, and stressed that preserving and promoting Myanmar’s indigenous traditional medicine resources and values, without allowing them to decline, is a national duty and responsibility of the younger generation.

Afterwards, attendees viewed a documentary video clip highlighting efforts in the development of traditional medicine, followed by a dance performance set to the song “Strength of the Union.” The SSPC Member Prime Minister then posed for a group documentary photograph together with attendees at the ceremony. Following the ceremony, the SSPC Member Prime Minister, together with responsible officials, toured and inspected the Department of Traditional Medicine exhibition and the medicinal product exhibition booths on display, it’s learnt.
