Myanmar and China media organizations held a ceremony to provide “Moral Support for Communities Affected by Earthquake” at Myanma Radio and Television in Nay Pyi Taw Tatkone on Saturday.

Commemorating the 75th anniversary of Myanmar-China Friendship, the ceremony commenced with the performance by the vocalists and students, followed by screening of a video clip on “Myanmar, Moving Forward Aftermath of Severe Earthquake”.

The attendees also observed a minute of silence in remembrance of those killed during the powerful earthquake. Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn later made a speech, highlighting the relief and recovery efforts in quake-hit areas with the support of international communities.

He expressed that a Chinese emergency search and rescue team from Yunnan Province arrived in Myanmar within just 18 hours after the disaster, followed by additional rescue teams, comprising four government units and several civilian groups, including those from Hong Kong.

In cooperation with local teams, they rescued four survivors along with the recovery of 64 deceased individuals, who were returned to their families with dignity and respect.

In addition, Chinese medical teams brought a wide array of medicines and equipment, setting up a mobile clinic in Mandalay to treat the injured. Chinese government and its people contributed over 447.69 tons of relief supplies, standing as the country that deployed the largest number of rescue personnel and contributed the most substantial relief efforts among international partners.

The Union Minister expressed gratitude for the support of China for the quake-hit communities. Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ms. Ma Jia also spoke at the event, expressing her belief for speedy recovery in the quake-hit areas, and to relay the friendly relations between China and Myanmar through media cooperation and shared community spirit.

During the ceremony, four documentary programs and one film, produced by China Media Group, were donated to be broadcast on MRTV.

Likewise, 17 million kyat worth relief supplies were provided for the 11 households from MRTV and 110 households from the Ministry of Education, affected by the earthquake. This was followed by entertainment programs, including performance of songs by the vocalists and quiz program for the attendees.
