Union Minister for Industry and MSME Development Dr. Charlie Than attended the closing ceremony of events held to mark World MSME Day at MICC-1 in Nay Pyi Taw. The Union Minister said MSMEs play a key role in Myanmar’s economy, supporting over 90 percent of businesses, creating jobs, reducing poverty, and promoting regional development.

He noted that the two-day event included seminars, panel discussions, and exhibitions with over 7,000 participants and 149 booths. The sessions covered topics on MSME development strategies, digital adoption, AI technology, digital marketing, and financial access.

The Union Minister also highlighted efforts to support MSME growth through low-interest loans, international market linkages, and digital transformation. He encouraged businesses to move toward a modern digital economy model, including online visibility, trust-building, digital payments, market readiness, and efficient delivery systems.

He added that Myanmar will continue supporting MSMEs in line with Sustainable Development Goals, promoting green business practices and expanding international cooperation, including upcoming training and business matching event in Germany and China.
