At the border canal between Mexico and the United States, Mexican and American faithful gathered to hear an open-air mass on Saturday to pray for migrants who have died in pursuit of the 'American Dream'. Dozens of parish priests and members of dioceses in Mexico and the United States were flanked by flags from various countries at the mass.

U.S. President Donald Trump has returned thousands of migrants back to Mexico while their asylum claims are validated in the U.S., a process that could take months or even years. Activists say this exposes migrants in Mexico to crime, kidnapping and a lack of resources to accommodate those seeking asylum.
