






Union Minister for Transport U Mya Tun Oo made inspection tour of shipyards in Yangon on 2nd May. Together with concerned officials, the Union Minister visited the 12,000-ton dry dock of Myanma Shipyards where the Managing Director presented repair works for LNG vessels, docking vessels and exploring status of hard surface for docking on Hlaing River bank.
Upon the reports, the Union Minister instructed for meeting set standard in time and capacity building of the workers. The Union Minister also observed the building of general cargo vessels and coastal vessels, and instructed to build the vessels in line with the designated design for the strength, in coordination with Department of Marine Administration.
They also inspected the Welding Training School in Repair workshop and stressed to expand the courses and issue the Completion Certificate upon the qualification assessment. The Union Minister and party also visited the Set San Shipyards in Mingalar Taung Nyunt Township and heard report by official regarding the shipyards and repair works.
The Union Minister emphasized to conduct the process in accordance with the standard including vessel design, workmanship and materials, workplace safety, while exploration market opportunities for increased revenue for the State and department. The Union Minister and party later viewed the repairing of Man Aung(3) Tugboat.
