Mandalay Walking Thingyan : MDY Region CM attended the opening ceremony

On the morning of April 14, Akya Day of Myanmar Year 1387, the Mandalay Walking Thingyan opening ceremony and the Zaygyo Thu Maha Thingyan Pavilion opening ceremony were held.

The Mandalay Traditional Myanmar Maha Thingyan Festival's Walking Thingyan is bustling with people coming to tour and enjoy water-play, celebrating peacefully and joyfully. The Mandalay Walking Thingyan opening ceremony was held in front of the Walking Thingyan gateway between 26th Street, 66th Street, and 67th Street.

It was attended by the Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, the Commander of Central Command, Brigadier General Aung Thay, the Speaker of Region Hluttaw, U Aung Kyaw Moe, regional ministers, the Region Advocate-General and responsible officials and invited guests.

The Region Chief Minister, the Commander, and responsible officials cut the ribbon to open the Walking Thingyan. Similarly, the opening ceremony of the Zaygyo Thu Maha Thingyan Pavilion, located between 80th Street, 25th Street, and 24th Street, was held.

After the Region Chief Minister and responsible officials cut the ribbon to open the pavilion, they watched and encouraged performances by Yein dance troupes, a ceremonial procession by the "Myo Ma Nge Ngan" decorative float as it passed in front of the pavilion paying respects, and a reciprocated performance by schoolgirls who surrounded the decorative float.

The Mandalay Moat Walking Thingyan features departmental and private sector walking Thingyan pavilions, water-play pavilions, Satuditha (charity feast) pavilions, and shops, as well as ethnic water-play pavilions and traditional ethnic food satuditha pavilions on the southern side of the moat.

The Region Chief Minister and officials participated in the celebrations together with residents of Mandalay city and people who had come from various regions to visit, it’s reported.
