Maldivian FM meets Sri Lanka’s President

Maldivian Foreign Minister Zameer met with Sri Lanka’s President Ranil on Wednesday, as part of an official visit to the neighboring country.

The meeting in Colombo saw discussions regarding further enhancing the strong ties between the two neighbors. At the meeting, Zameer re-affirmed Maldives’ commitment to further enhancing relations, and expressed appreciation for the enduring friendship and close cooperation between the two countries.

The two ministers engaged in discussions on working together to combat illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing activities, in the countries’ respective exclusive economic zones, and beyond.

They also discussed a diverse array of topics of mutual interests, including cooperation in the areas of economy and trade, education, tourism, employment, legal and law enforcement, and regional and multi-lateral cooperation.
