Malaysia's government has rejected an offer to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games due to uncertainty over the economic impact and insufficient funding offered to take on the event, Malaysia Sports Ministry said on Friday.

The Commonwealth Games Federation offered Malaysia and other potential hosts £100 million to replace Victoria. But the Malaysian government said the offer was "not expected to be able to cover the entire cost of organizing a large-scale sports event".

Malaysia government also said they wants to focus on the development of sports as well as the welfare and well-being of the people. The Games includes former British colonies, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, England, South Africa and others.
