





The Public Health Department is implementing the National Malaria Elimination Plan as per the procedures of the Global Technical Strategy for Malaria 2016-2030. The implementations have been carried out with the targets to ensure no case of P. falciparum malaria by 2025 and to eliminate human-to-human malaria transmission through mosquito bites by 2030.
Mandatory Reporting of Malaria Diagnosis and Treatment was launched at a ceremony, held at the Ministry of Health in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday. Union Minister Professor Dr Thet Khaing Win attended the ceremony and made an opening speech, saying that eliminating malaria is the important work process, and the malaria monitoring tasks have been carried out with added momentum. In order to cut the malaria transmission, it is a mandatory task to report to the concerned health department within 24 hours period of detecting the malaria.
And thus, the diagnosis and treatment measures as well as the preventive tasks could be responded in a timely manner. He stressed the need to inform widely about the mandatory report on the malaria case withing 24 hours by means of telephone or SMS to the Township Public Health Department. Malaria elimination process is being implemented as per the commitment of eliminating malaria in 6 Greater Mekong Region countries including Myanmar by 2030.
He called for harmonious cooperation with the partner organizations with the same goals, same objective and same strategy. He also instructed to conduct training, to form the supporting groups, to lay down the strategy and to make systematic process for information management. Officials later reported on the situation of malaria cases in Myanmar, diagnosis and treatment process as well as arrangements for mandatory report. The Union Minister and party later viewed the booth displaying the prevention and control of malaria.
