Making field trip: Boosting crop productivity and sufficient water supply

The Union Territory Nay Pyi Taw is being developed as a model region for comprehensive development based on agriculture and livestock.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation is providing assistance for agricultural productivity and mixed cropping. The local farmers need to cooperate in following agricultural methods, no loss of water in irrigation systems and water supply. 

It was said by Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe while meeting with famers from Nyaung Pin Su village in Nay Pyi Taw PobbaThiri Township on Wednesday. Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Tin Oo Lwin explained about efforts for development of MSMEs based on agriculture and livestock, greening of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area and improving socio-economic life of farmers.

The Union Minister and party then conducted a field trip on boosting mixed crop cultivation on the land along Razahtani road in Nay Pyi Taw, arrangements for supply of irrigated water to summer paddy and irrigation with solar-powered water pump in Bae Kone village.

They also looked into irrigated water supply to summer paddy and crops and water supply of Hsin Thay diversion weir. During the inspection, the Union Minsiter and the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman discussed with officials and farmers for triple crop cultivation, no wastage of irrigated water, sufficient water supply and managing of water use by forming the Water User Groups and the Water User Assocations.

In the evening, the Union Minister and party looked into arrangments for loan disbursement for the 1st time from Emerald green capital fund in Monn Tae Khwin (North) village in Zeyathiri Townhip and goat breeding and fulfilled the needs on agriculture and regional development tasks.
