The strong 7.4 earthquake struck off the northeastern coast of Indonesia's Sulawesi island on Thursday, prompting authorities to issue a tsunami warning. The region’s rescue chief told the reporters that one person was killed when a building collapsed in Manado.

The Hawaii-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Center initially said hazardous tsunami waves were possible within 1,000 kilometers of the epicenter along the coasts of Indonesia, the Philippines and Malaysia.
