Macron calls for global body to ensure AI falling into 'a few hands'

French President Emmanuel Macron called for the creation of an international body to oversee artificial intelligence, warning that the most powerful AI systems must not be left in the hands of a small number of actors capable of making decisions for the whole of humanity.

Speaking in the presence of Pope Leo XIV at the Elysee Palace, Macron proposed that global governance is needed to ensure technological progress remains aligned with justice and humanist values.
