CNN, MS NOW allowed back in White House after judge's order

Federal District Judge Timothy J. Kelly issued a temporary restraining order instructing the White House to immediately restore press credentials for CNN, MS NOW, and Politico. President Donald Trump announced a ban revoking the White House press credentials of journalists from CNN, MS NOW, and Politico, characterizing their reporting as "fake news".

Judge Kelly ruled that the outlets were likely to win their case on due process grounds. He noted that the White House lacked clear, objective standards for credential revocation and rejected the administration's late claim that the outlets posed a "national security risk," pointing out that the initial justification was purely about negative coverage.

Despite the overnight court order, journalists were briefly turned away and had their passes confiscated again on Thursday morning. The outlets filed an emergency motion with the court, after which White House press operations re-activated their credentials and delivered physical badges to the gate, allowing reporters back onto the grounds by midday.
