Organized by the Tanintharyi Region Government, the "Festival for Library Development and Reading Promotion" jointly organized by the Information and Public Relations Department and the Department of Education was held at Basic Education High School No. 4 in Dawei in the morning on August 11th.
Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko, Region High Court Chief Justice Daw Paik Paik Aye, Region Social Affairs Minister, Director of the Region Information and Public Relations Department, and the Region Education Director cut the ribbon to officially open the festival.
Following the opening, the Chief Minister and officials enjoyed performances by students from Basic Education High School No. 4 and Maha Shwe Gon Htoo မဟာရွှေဂုဏ်ထူး Private High School. The performances included singing, dancing, and a lively drum and pom-pom show. The region government then presented cash of honor.
The Chief Minister and officials toured the festival, viewing the various exhibits on display. They also warmly greeted the students participating in the competitions and gave them school notebooks.
Approximately 1,500 students from Basic Education High School No. 4, Maha Shwe Gon Htoo မဟာရွှေဂုဏ်ထူး Private High School, and other private primary schools attended the festival. They enthusiastically viewed the photo and book exhibits and participated in the competitions. The prizes for competition winners would be awarded on August 12, it’s reported.
