At least 11 killed in Karachi building collapse

in Pakistan's biggest city Karachi, at least 11 people were killed and more than a dozen injured when a five-storey residential building collapsed on Thursday, local media reported. The dead included seven women and three children. The building, located in the congested Gulbahar neighbourhood in the central district of Karachi, suddenly collapsed and damaged two other buildings next to it, eyewitnesses said.

It was not immediately clear what caused the building collapse but Pakistan's construction sector suffers from poor oversight and developers frequently flout building codes.
