


The Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Hut Oo addressed the Launching Ceremony of 4th Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund Projects held at the ministry, Nay Pyi Taw on November 9.
The Union Minister said that the ministry will put efforts for the implementation of Mekong-Lancang Cooperation program as well as the agricultural cooperation between the two countries and the programs to be implemented under the MoU. At the ceremony, the director-general Daw Malar Than Htaik from the ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chinese ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Chen Hai also gave the remarks and the director-general U Kyaw Swe Lin from the Planning Department clarified relating to the projects.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation is implementing the agricultural production development and poverty alleviation among the Mekong-Lancang projects as the focal ministry. There are 24 projects under the implementation with the support from the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund including first batch of 5 projects in 2017, second batch of 9 projects in 2018, third batch of 6 projects in 2020 and 4th batch of 4 projects in 2021.
The projects allocated to be implemented in 2021 are the bamboo shoot producing for the socio-economic development and income boosting for the rural households, providing technical assistance for the small scale farmers of Macadamia which is a fruit having prospective agricultural market, production of high quality coffee with advanced technology of production and packaging for income improvement and the cooperation project for developing vaccine to prevent cross-border transition of animal diseases and the transmittableĀ diseases between the human beings and animals.
