Last Italian troops depart from Afghanistan

Italy's last C-130J aircraft left Kabul airport on Friday evening, carrying Italian military personnel who were deployed to Afghanistan to join the evacuation operation. A video showed an Italian flag hanging above the ramp door while soldiers boarded the plane with their luggage.

According to the officials, Italian military were on the ground since 13 August as part of the Joint Evacuation Task Force. The plane will return to Italy early next week via Kuwait, and will be welcomed by the Minister of Defense Lorenzo Guerini.
